Leicester Tigers are reportedly in advanced stage of talks for All Black fullback Damian McKenzie.

The player is considering his future after he was called on only when Ben Smith concussed in the first Test of the Lions series.

The 22-year old has been impressive in the current Super Rugby term but he ranks low in the pecking order of the All Blacks. The Tigers want him to join their ranks, and they have an interest in his brother Marty as well.

The Tigers have also been linked with a move for Blue Bulls star Arno Botha. Botha was reported to be on his way to Ulster at the end of the last season but the Tigers could sign the No. 8 soon. The Bok star can also feature as a flanker. He was set to move to Ulster but he failed medicals so the side abandoned the deal. The 25-year old was expected to agree to a two year deal but everything with the Belfast side ended with the failed exam.

Matt O’Connor is allegedly considering American tight head Chris Baumann as well. The player can also play hooker so he could be important for the Tigers.

Leicester Tigers have been cleaning the closet to make space for the incoming players. There have been departures in recent weeks and this may continue as more players are due to join.

Back-row forward SioneKalamafoni who joined the Tigers recently says he is “honoured” to be playing for the team. Kalamafoni is with the Tigers for his first pre-season training. The Tonga international is expected to play the No. 8 role. The big size – 6ft 5in – of the 29-year old would be helpful for the team in ball carrying aside his five year experience with Gloucester.
