Fans Tigers Honor Players Of The Year

Holding up the awards like ‘Young Player of the Year’ and ‘Best Newcomer’ voted by the supporters was a memorable evening for Genge at the event which was sponsored by DX.

The other winners of the awards were Freddie Burns (Player of the Year), Dan Cole (Outstanding Service), The Wheelchair Rugby Team Leicester Tigers (#TigersFamily Award) and Telusa Veainu (Try of the Season).

Genge, has agreed to a new contract terms with the Tigers, the player has got a place in the squad of England for the Argentina’s tour all because of his form in this season. By the online votes from supporters, Genge ranked top in two categories.

Revealing his happiness the player said: “The tourney from being the part of the Championship in 2016 to coming here to take the award is truly delighted. I believe in the past few months I have settled as a player and have learned a lot of things from the experienced players around me. I am enjoying the game here. Picking and holding the awards given by the support means a lot to me”.

At the moment, Burns got the ‘Player of the Year’ award and was from a shortlist which included Dom Barrow, Genge, Adam Thompstone and Luke Hamilton. In a short interview, Burns said: “Getting accolade like this is really great and I am feeling proud.” He said, “I would like to forward my thanks all the boys for their dedication and hard work all through the season. I am also thankful to the supporters, who voted for me, receiving awards from the voters is a different feeling that cannot be expressed in words”.
